Google Adsense Calculation

Google Adsense makes some simple calculation formula in order to calculate the Adsense earning of publishers. I will try to explaining about those calculation, and I hope it could be useful for some Adsense beginner. There are several terms that related with adsense tips and tricks.

Clickthrough rate (CTR) is the number of clicks an ad unit receives divided by the number of times the ad unit is shown (impressions).

Effective CPM (eCPM) is cost per 1000 impressions. From a publisher’s perspective, CPM is a useful way to compare revenue across different channels and advertising programs. It is calculated by dividing total earnings by the number of impressions in thousands.

Impression is the number of times an ad is displayed on Google or on sites or products in Google’s ad network. A page impression is counted each time an ad unit is displayed on a publisher’s site. Page impressions are used when calculating reports for Adsense publishers, rather than ad impressions

Earnings is total money that would be given by Google Adsense for publishers who participate in their affiliate programs.

Earnings Per Click (EPC) actually is average cost per click that would be given to publishers depends on the sum of the click, page impressions and advertiser’s bid. However, it’s still be a Google Adsense Secret.

So, here are the formula for Adsense calculation :

CTR = (Clicks / Impressions) * 100

EPC = Earnings Per Click

eCPM = (Earnings / Impressions) * 1000
eCPM = CTR * EPC * 10

Earnings = eCPM * Impressions / 1000
Earnings = CTR * EPC * Impressions / 100

Eg.: Today you’ve got 9 clicks for 2017 impressions. (Just for sample, the EPC was 0.04)

CTR = (9 / 2017) * 100 = 0.4462 = 0.45

eCPM = 0.4462 * 0.04 * 10 = 0.17848 = 0.18
eCPM = (0.3599941 / 2017) * 1000 = 0.17848 = 0.18

Earnings = 0.17848 * 2017 / 1000 = 0.3599941 = 0.36
Earnings = 0.4462 * 0.04 * 2017 / 100 = 0.3599941 = 0.36

    I have pretty much just began my web adword site and my CTR is under 1% is that normal? And for this month it says my total cost per click for all the clicks so far is 17 dollars and some odd change, and my earnings on adsense says i made 13 cents for several clicks. How is money made? Clearly I am at a net loss. How come I am not even making my amount per click? This won’t work if they dont’ pay you enough to even cover your cost per click. Someone please e-mail me that knows more about this. Explain to me how someone can make money with this google adsense and adwords program if the cost per click is higher than the amount earned per click. Thank you very much.

    Each ad network has different rules.

    Hello,

    I kept checking my google account to see if the they have approved. After a long wait, I finally have my adsense setup google account. My ads did show only for a brief time , over a week. Then there is only a white space showing the Phrase “You are not Authorized to View This Page” I again posted new ads and still is the same only now I have two white spaces on the bottom of my website?? How can this be resolve??? I am losing revenue. This can be confusing to the viewers. Other people are telling my that my ads are not being shown. So the problem is not because javascript is disabled on my pc

    Looking forward to hear from you.

    Hi, Debra…
    When I’m visiting your site, it looks like your account had been banned (disable) by Google AdSense Support Team. Check your email that previously used for joining adsense. Maybe there’s a letter from adsense support for you. I’ve checked your adsense pub-id on my adsense banned checker software and it seems that you had been banned. Sorry to say that.
    Maybe you have to seek another PPC campaign for your website, such as YPN, Bidvertiser, Kontera, Adbrite,etc.

    Hi Angellica,

    How are you ?
    I think I need some help from you,
    to give me some explanation.

    In these past 1 months I noticed
    my earning is dropping….
    from daily about 1 or 2 USD to under 1 USD now.

    The CTR compare to before my earning dropped,
    not much change. It’s always between 6 - 10%.

    but the eCPM is different, before around 5 - 10 USD
    and now mostly only around 2 - 5 USD.

    Is this because the ads showed in my page rolling ?
    I mean this time I have an ad who paid less to google ?

    From forum, some said that having CTR more than 8%
    is not good at all, because the possibility to be banned is there.
    Is it true ? I’m so affraid, because I did frequently
    get CTR more than 8% - even sometimes more than 10%….!

    for example, on march 27 - I got
    impression :221 - click:25 - CTR:11.31% - eCPM:$3.51 earning:$0.77

    Is this normal ?
    Anykind of respond will be greatly much appreciated.
    Thank you in advanced.

    regards,
    reko
