What Actually is Google AdSense Channel ?
If you are a newbie in Google AdSense campaign, maybe you don’t understand enough about Google AdSense channel for the first times. In order to let you know what a channel is, I will explain about Google AdSense channel in this post. I will tell you about what is the advantage when using a channel.
In Google AdSense campaign, you will see that there are two types of channels. The first channel is URL channel, and another one is Custom channel. Those two channels have some differences, and each one has its own behavior and advantage.
Google AdSense channel can be assigned into your AdSense codes during the AdSense codes being generated. Google AdSense channel is used for tracking and monitoring the performance of the AdSense ad unit, whether it was used for a single ad or some ads inside any particular URL. In order to get your Adsense ads at maximum performance, you have to optimize and blend your AdSense ads inside your site. It’s about color, placement, format etc. But, how did you know the performance for each AdSense ads inside your site? The performance for each of your Google AdSense ads can be tracked through channel. That will give more advantage when you are about tracking the performance of the Google AdSense ads.
With using the channel features, publishers can track and monitoring the performance for a single AdSense ad, or multiple set of AdSense ads. Each channel will give the complete statistics about impressions, clicks and earnings from the AdSense ads. Based on those channel statistics, publishers will know exactly which AdSense ads have great performance inside their page and they have to keep that. But, if there’s bad stats for the performance of the ads which already been channeled (such as less clicks/low CTR, less earnings/low EPC, etc.), then you need to give it some improvements/change for your AdSense ads.
Many AdSense newbie always ask the same question about: What is URL channel? URL channel is a channel that can be used for monitoring all of the ads units which being displayed inside any URL address. If you choose the top level domain such as “www.angellica2017.com” as the URL channel, then the report inside your AdSense account will show the statistics about all ad units under www.angellica2017.com domain. This channel report also includes all sub-domains. Anyway, if you choose a sub-domain “http://diary.angellica2017.com” as the URL channel, then only ads within that sub-domain will be included in your statistic report. In my opinion, I don’t think URL channel is very useful when tracking performance of the ads. I believe Custom channel more useful rather than URL channel.
With my statement above, maybe you must be asking again, what is Custom channel? Custom channel is a channel that can be used for monitoring individual or multiple ad units and very customizable. You can add the Custom channel when you generate your AdSense javascript code. Custom channel can track/monitor the ads very specific and it will display the statistics of its performance including impressions, clicks and earning for each ads. Webmaster usually use Custom channel to track performance of the ads inside their site. It makes Custom channel very useful and popular between webmaster because of its specific features.
For the last time, I will tell you that every publisher can have up to 200 AdSense channels inside their AdSense account. You can use Google AdSense channels to get more information you need to make your site have better performance. It’s very easy to manage your AdSense channel. Every publisher may add, remove, and rename their channels in order to get better stats result in AdSense account.
